2. Click Media in Network to see all HTTP requests to media files.
3. Browse to the YouTube video that you wish to download. The YouTube page will start to show you the requests it has made for audio and video files.
4. Move your cursor to the Type column for each request and see the media type.
- Look for “audio/mp4” if you need the audio.
- You can search for the video/mp4 if you are looking for it.
- “Media” (like Google Chrome) can be searched by simply entering the keyword “audio” or the phrase “video” into the Network tool’s search bar.
5. Once you have found the download youtube audio requested media type (it will be from the googlevideo.com domain), click it and copy its URL.
6. Paste the URL into the address bar.
7. To save the video or audio, right-click the page and choose “Save as”.
8. You can have both audio and video. Follow the above steps and combine them using the default media editor on your computer. Even with outdated programs such as Windows Movie Maker, it’s easy and fast to do this.
Bonus Tip: Firefox Users
- You may get WEBM audio files from YouTube instead of MP4 (webm cannot be played in a browser). Then YouTube will send you the audio in MPEG4 format.
- Enter “about:config” into the address bar. Click Enter to open any warning messages and search for “webm”.
